CHALLENGE:
Lee and Miguel Cano wanted to open an uncluttered,
mid-century
modern coffee shop with the highest quality coffee. The Coffee Studio
needed to be memorable, comfortable, sustainable, and express the
owners’ passion for great design.
SOLUTION:
The coffee shop has exposed Chicago
common brick and a simple white
drywall ceiling cloud in the center. Minimal recessed downlights keep
the central area simple and sleek; simple geometric pendants front and
rear cap the cloud. Track lights allow flexible spotlighting of
graphics and modular retail product display. The floor is sustainable
cork-based linoleum, and the counter front is faced with simple lumber.
A large communal table near the storefront allows patrons to interact
in larger groups, and free wifi and ample power receptacles allow
locals to study and work away from home with ease.
